Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) is Australia’s leading breast cancer consumer organisation.

We provide information and support to those diagnosed and their supporters, opportunities to connect with others going through a similar situation and work to influence a stronger healthcare system to ensure all Australians affected by breast cancer receive the very best care, treatment and support.

BCNA was born out of a small group of determined women who wanted to make the breast cancer journey better. In 1998, when Lyn Swinburne founded BCNA, her vision was for no one to feel alone through their experience of breast cancer. In 2023, that vision still remains our priority.

This year over 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer, including 200 men. Sadly, we will also lose about 3,000 people to the disease.

Over the past 25 years, we have built a strong and resilient network that brings together over 175,000 individuals. We are led by the lived experience of those who have already been diagnosed and we are driven every day to make the experience better for those who will be diagnosed tomorrow.

BCNA is represented by the Pink Lady silhouette – symbolic of BCNA’s focus on the people affected by breast cancer and all those around them, not the disease.

As a member of our Helpline Services team, you will have a high level of empathy, advanced communication skills, feel comfortable speaking with Australians affected by breast cancer and preferably have a background in health and/or contact centres. This role is Full-Time Fixed-Term to 30 June 2024. 

The team work in a hybrid arrangement where they are in the office twice a week (Monday & Wednesday) and the remaining days from home. As a team member you will be connecting regularly with your team to troubleshoot and find the best solutions. 

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Demonstrated experience in providing person-centred information and support, preferably in a health or community-focused role.
• Proven proficiency in Microsoft suite of programs and preferably Salesforce knowledge and experience.
• Demonstrated experience in a previous contact centre or helpline role.
• Experience in general administration is a must, you'll need to talk and have your fingers walk at the same time. 

Key accountabilities include:

• Encourage and facilitate strong member engagement through the provision of practical support and advice related to breast cancer including up-to-date and accurate information about BCNA support services and resources and referral options via high-quality verbal and written communication.
• Maintain strong relationships with health professionals.
• Build and maintain knowledge on the wide range of BCNA information resources, programs, and services to promote how BCNA can support members.
• Build and maintain knowledge of a range of external organisations to provide credible and current responses and referrals.
• As part of the team, contribute to regular reviews of our team processes and procedures to provide continued development and service delivery improvement. Actively contribute to member support team meetings and work collaboratively on team plans.
