About Berkeley Vale Neighbourhood Centre Inc.

Our community organization is Not for Profit, incorporated and Funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. There are three sites auspiced by the Board of Governance – Berkeley Vale Neighbourhood Centre, Bateau Bay Neighbourhood Centre and Tuggerah OOSH Centre, Central Coast NSW. There are a range of programs and activities specializing in individualized support for vulnerable people and families providing information, advice, referral and advocacy. 

About the Role

The position of Community Development Worker is Temporary at the Berkeley Vale Centre for short term with an immediate start and end of employment date 1st May 2024.

The primary tasks are to:

  • Plan and implement activities relating to the needs of the local diverse community and Targeted Early Intervention principles.
  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment that promotes inclusive social connections for vulnerable people, families, young children and youth.
  • Work independently at the Centre while also collaborating as part of a team with other Staff, Volunteers and Board members in the organisation.
  • Establish meaningful relationships with people and groups in the local community

Essential Criteria

  • Be able to work flexible hours 21-28 hours per week over 3-4 days
  • Demonstrate positive and effective communication skills with good organizational abilities.
  • Computer and administration skills including Social Media.
  • Be able to work ‘hands on’ in this position with community activities and be responsible to the Board of Governance as the employer.

Award Conditions

  • Salary and Conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 3-4 depending on qualifications and experience.

Desirable qualifications

  • Diploma of Community Services or Degree in the relevant fields.
