Berwick Healthcare is a Commonwealth Government GP Super Clinic located on the Berwick campus of Federation University Clyde Road Berwick. Dandenong Casey Super Clinic Ltd (trading as Berwick Healthcare) is a not-for-profit company operating under the management of a Board of Directors.

Head to Help (H2H) clinics are part of the Australian Government response to the surge in demand for mental health services resulting from the Covid-19 public health measures in Victoria.

The South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network (SEMPHN) is funded by the Commonwealth to establish 3 Mental Health Clinics/Hubs within their catchment. Berwick Healthcare was successful in being chosen as the site for the City of Casey.

About the Role

An exciting and challenging opportunity presents itself to influence and help shape the development of a new mental health service. You will be a psychologist within a multi-disciplinary team that may include mental health nurses, social workers, mental health support workers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health practitioner, mental health OTs, youth workers and peer workforce.

The team works to provide person centred, flexible, recovery focussed care that focuses on the whole of person. It targets clients with moderate to high intensity service needs with a step up, step down model of care delivering packages of evidenced based care and family support to cover the short to medium term.

The HeadtoHelp Hub strives to provide locally accessible and responsive services to meet clients’ needs. Our clients have a range of backgrounds, presenting issues and goals and you will need to demonstrate a therapeutic and flexible approach in working with each client.

Core responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments including IAR as part of intake & triage utilising mandated HeadtoHelp assessment tools, program proformas and procedures.
  • Provide evidence-based, psychological services, strategies, and therapeutic support to clients across the life span. This may include ‘holding’ of clients where demand exceeds capacity to service clients
  • Ensure data capture and reporting requirements are met as per the HeadtoHelp model of care documentation
  • Participate in the review, updating and/ or development of program policies and procedures, guidelines and clinical work practices.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHRPA).
  • Significant experience in community mental health practice (at least 5 years).
  • Demonstrated competence in providing psychological services/ interventions

What you need

  • Current general or endorsed registration with AHPRA
  • Working with Children’s Check & current police check
  • Current drivers licence
  • Up to date immunisation status
