About you

You are passionate about promoting the employability of people who are blind or vision impaired, in their chosen field.

You have a strong knowledge of recruitment and employment practices, while building and promoting the accessibility and inclusivity of these practices.

You have a demonstrated interest in developing the job-ready skills of people who are blind or vision impaired.

You are creative in developing and presenting information and resources in accessible and engaging ways.

You have a strong awareness of the issues faced by people who are blind or vision impaired such as access and accessibility.

You always seek to consult and work collaboratively to ensure that your work brings out the best in people.

You love to work with people, whether it's your own team, members of BCA or other stakeholders and value the contribution they can bring to the organisation.

You have the ability to undertake administrative tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, data entry, and reporting

The stuff you need to know

Position Purpose

Creating content and delivering workshops and online training for people who are blind or vision impaired who are seeking employment and for businesses who are seeking employees, and wanting to develop more inclusive recruitment practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Eye to the Future team and blindness sector partners to deliver relevant, topical online workshops to assist people who are blind or vision impaired who are seeking work opportunities.
  • Develop resources and workshops aimed at businesses who are considering employing a person who is blind or vision impaired, to promote accessible recruitment and employment practices.
  • Using survey results and in consultation with interns and business, develop online round table discussion sessions and webinars.
  • Make connections with external information and service providers.
  • Develop resources on remote working.
  • Further develop and manage the Eye to the Future YouTube channel.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the General Manager Projects and Engagement

Reporting Relationships and Delegations:

  • This position reports to the General Manager, Projects and Engagement
  • This position has no direct reports

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Shortlisted candidates will need to be able to demonstrate these skills prior to interview.
  2. The ability to work collaboratively with staff in a remote environment; including ability to work autonomously.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  4. Well-established resource development skills with specific strengths in knowledge of accessible workplaces, and recruitment strategies.
  5. Confidence and experience in presenting workshops and webinars, to a diverse audience.
  6. Establish relationships, collaborate and engage with relevant teams and stakeholders

This position is a 12-month contract

The position has a national focus. The successful applicant can take advantage of flexible remote working arrangements, working from home.

22.8 hours per week (some weekend and evening work may be required).

Salary is under the SCHADS Award – level 5.1.

It is a requirement that all BCA staff hold a current police check.
