Your Position:
The Community Projects Officer will continue to develop and implement a broad range of initiatives and partnership projects that support Council’s community priorities and objectives in relation to Children, Young people and Families across Burwood’s diverse local community.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:-
- Planning and delivering creative, needs based, and innovative community focussed projects and programs that align with Council’s priorities, objectives and expected outcomes in building community capacity and engagement with the community
- Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of a variety of initiatives such as projects related to Council’s Youth Action Plan (YAP), Burwood Regional Child & Family Interagency and Council’s Child Protection Policy
- Supporting Council’s key community Advisory Groups, such as Burwood Youth Advisory Group as well as key community interagency networks
- Facilitate partnership projects with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of project objectives
- Provide information and support programs for community organisations to increase their capacity to develop and sustain services and programs in response to identified community needs
- Provide specialist advice in relation to matters relating to children, young people and families, including appropriate community engagement
To be successful in this role you will have:-
- A Degree in Community Development, Social Science, Social Work or a related discipline with contemporary experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience working with child protection, child safe standards and related NSW legislation including implementing best practice models relating to engagement with children and young people.
- Proven success in community development and leading capacity building projects that address the needs of children, young people and families
- Contemporary project management experience using appropriate methodologies and the skills and ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Proven ability to engage with and influence stakeholders to achieve fit-for-purpose outcomes aligned with Council’s strategic goals.
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing and negotiation; research and information analysis, and report writing to facilitate understanding and/or decision-making.
- Working with Children Check.
- Availability to work out of hours and on weekends as required
Key Requirements
- COVID 19 vaccination for all employees (2 Vaccines)
- Willingness to complete a National Police History Check
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment (Where applicable)
- Current Driver's Licence
- Local Government working experience an advantage
