About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Work, Health and Safety Manager to establish, implement, and maintain an effective health and safety management system for the newly formed Better Health Network. This is a stand-alone role which requires a motivated and hands-on professional to manage the day-to-day OHS responsibilities, as well as strategic alignment that will support BHN through transformation and growth.

As the Work, Health and Safety Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing, implementing, and maintaining an effective health and safety management system for BHN including the development and ongoing improvement of processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Fostering a strong safety culture through awareness, education, and communication.
  • Leading the OHS Committee and promoting active engagement in safety initiatives with committee members.
  • Managing workers compensation claims and return to work processes for BHN (Return-to-Work Coordinator).
  • Developing, implementing and managing OHS policies and procedures ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards
  • Conducting regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, developing mitigation strategies.
  • Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive safety training program for staff
  • Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions for prevention.

Are you passionate about fostering a strong safety culture?

Ideally, you will possess:

  • 3-5 Years experience working in an OHS/WHS Manager or similar role, preferably within a large health organisation.
  • Tertiary Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in Return-to-Work Injury Management and Workers Compensation
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the requirements of OHS and legislation, relevant Codes of Practice, Australian and international Standards and Guidelines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work autonomously
  • A genuine passion and interest in the health, safety of our people
  • Well-developed presentation and report writing skills
