About the role

The Legal Advisor will be responsible for providing legal advice and assistance to the organisation under the guidance of the General Counsel and Company Secretary.

This role is a Fixed-Term (12 months contract), Part-Time (22.5 hours – 30 hours per week by negotiation).

About you

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to show your experience, knowledge, and expertise in the legal profession. Be able to work part of a small team and also autonomously, whilst meeting all the needs of the organisation and providing timely legal support to the General Counsel and Legal Secretary.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Essential Skills:

  • Admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland and hold a valid Queensland Practicing Certificate. 3-5 years PQE.
  • Experience in the legal industry and/or contract drafting and negotiation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide legal support and, in doing so, perform duties under minimal direction and with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to flexibly adjust to a broad range of competing priorities without compromising on service delivery and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • High-level organisational skills to coordinate and manage projects together with a demonstrated ability to maintain systems to support planning and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills in effectively managing interactions with a diverse range of people.
  • Proven high-level ability to demonstrate initiative and to work autonomously and effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to cope under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service to external and internal stakeholders.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in an inhouse legal and/or not-for-profit environment.
