The CFMMEU is Australia's largest and main trade union in building and construction, maritime, forestry & manufacturing and mining and energy production.
The CFMMEU National Office is currently seeking to employ a legally qualified National Research Officer/Policy Advisor on a permanent, full time basis. The successful candidate will work with a team of dedicated officers committed to the values and principles of unionism, and advancing the cause of the CFMMEU and its members. Qualifications and experience:
- Preferred Legal and/or Industrial Relations Degree;
- Advanced and persuasive written and verbal communication skills;
- Comprehensive research, interpretation and critical analysis skills;
- Ability to successfully coordinate, advocate and negotiate on behalf of the Union;
- Preferred experience in the Onshore & Offshore Industries;
- Have a keen interest and a competent understanding of the Renewables Sector;
- Minimum 4 years’ of relevant or similar experience;
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and related programs;
- Must be prepared to travel domestically.
Key responsibilities:
The National Research Officer/Policy Advisor will operate under the direction of the National Secretary to develop and implement complex policies, which are aligned to the Union’s strategic priorities. This senior role involves:
- Anticipating and identifying policy issues, undertake research, and consult with stakeholders to develop and implement policies and procedures;
- Undertake complex research and analysis in the areas of, but not limited to, the Onshore & Offshore Industries and the Renewables Sector;
- Researching and writing submissions on issues that affect the Onshore & Offshore Industries and Renewables Sector;
- Provide high quality policy advice and prepare highly complex correspondence and documentation;
- Maintain accurate records of discussions and decisions;
- Interacting and liaising with other unions and key stakeholders and maintaining strong relationships.
Salary package is dependant on experience and other attributes that the successful applicant may have to offer, along with additional annual leave, annual leave loading and 15% superannuation.
