Key role responsibilities

Focusing on the delivery of quality service to our customers, we are looking for a highly skilled, committed, passionate leader to take on the role of State Operations Manager (SOM) for Queensland. As the SOM, you will have operational oversight of all customer services and programs within Queensland and will be responsible for service delivery, partnership management and maintaining successful networks across services in Queensland with respect to relevant contracts, legislation, organisational procedures and best practice. Your main tasks will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing quality services to customers
  • Managing programs to meet compliance, contractual, reporting and requirements
  • Implementing the State Operational Plan(s)
  • Effective management of staff including: performance and compliance requirements; staff appraisals, supervision and development; and HR records management
  • Ensuring timely and accurate data collection and reporting in accordance with contractual requirements, performance indicators, legislation and reporting guidelines
  • Contributing to Queensland planning and resourcing; implementing and working within budgetary constraints
  • Working with the National Operations Manager to create and maintain effective partnerships with external bodies
  • Contributing to the broader aims of CHL including community development, social impact, business development and growth

About you

To be successful as our State Operations Manager for Queensland you will need to demonstrate success leading at a senior management level in social services or government sector, as well as a sound understanding of best practice social housing management, policy and legislation applying to the community housing industry. You will also bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated ability to create a self-directed team environment and a culture of achievement
  • A history of effective leadership and demonstrated strategic thinking
  • Strong and effective decision-making skills, with a client and advocacy focus
  • Demonstrated history of actively supporting continuous improvement and Work Health Safety programs
  • Strong financial management and communication skills
  • A current driver’s license
  • A commitment to the right of all people to affordable and sustainable housing
