About the Role

This position is accountable for the Koorie Liaison program development, delivery and promotion. The Koorie Liaison Officer (KLO) also assists with engagement and retention strategies, and matters involving cultural knowledge and awareness.

The KLO establishes effective and positive relationships between Chisholm Institute and Indigenous students, local communities, service providers, and industry and business partners. The KLO also identifies VET needs and opportunities to help inform the Wurreker plan.

The services provided by the KLO include initial recruitment activities, student enrolment and administrative process support, campus liaison services, personal support and referral services to other specialist advisory and support services operating within the Institute and the boarder community. The KLO also runs events, programs and projects designed to raise awareness and respect for Indigenous people and culture within the community.

The KLO is a key member of the Student Services Team and provides expertise to Koorie students, Educators and Professional staff for the Learning and Support Services business area and broader Chisholm objectives.

About You

As the successful candidate you must be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander to apply for the role and you must have:

• A Post-Secondary Qualification
• Professional experience working within the Indigenous education or community sector, including collaborating with community networks to identify and address community needs
• Demonstrated understanding of Government integration and social justice initiatives as they impact on the TAFE system and a working knowledge of Equal Opportunity and Social Justice principles
• A strong (Intermediate) level of competency using MS Office (word, excel and email)
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team, including the ability to self-monitor work requirements and achieve deadlines
• Highly developed oral communication skills, as well as highly developed interpersonal skills
• The ability to prepare reports, lead consultation and deliver presentations on behalf of Chisholm to diverse stakeholder groups
• Planning, project and event management experience
• Case management experience
