Supported Independent Living Service Manager

Community Services Bespoke Solutions

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic person to become part of our amazing team who are on the forefront of delivering empowering disability supports to NDIS participants living with complex disability and/or mental health issues.

Our ideal supported independent living (SIL) service manager will have an innovative approach to resourcing the support requirements of Participants while ensuring all supports and services are aligned with the NDIS Commission Quality Indicators.

The Participants we support have a diverse range of individual needs and preferences. We want to employ people who can be individually matched with Participant requirements. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, mature age workers and LGBTI people.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager for Disability Services, you will be based at the CSBS Office in Murarrie but will travel regularly to visit Participants in their homes and communities as part of your role.

This role is full time.

Our service managers work alongside an NDIS Participant and their support networks to oversee the delivery of a diverse range of person-focussed supports – designed with and directed by the Participant to build their capacity, independence & resilience while achieving the goals set out in their NDIS Plan.

Strong candidates will:

  • Be naturally fearless advocates and leaders with a clear focus on supporting NDIS Participants and their Nominees/Guardians to enable them to live the life they want to live.
  • Have lived or professional experience in supporting people with a disability.
  • Have a demonstrated knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), legislation and rules, and or a willingness to gain it.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and steward teams through effective practice.
  • Be familiar with Restrictive Practices and Positive Behaviour Support Practices.
  • Be able to effectively and efficiently juggle competing priorities in what can be a high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate participant information and files.
  • Demonstrated intermediate ability to use Microsoft Office software, Client Management systems and the willingness to learn new systems and technology.
  • The ability and willingness to travel.

The nature of this role means that you will sometimes be working in complex situations. Your resilience, adaptability, and readiness for a challenge combined with a generally positive nature will make your application stand out from the crowd.

As with everything we do at CSBS – the focus is on collaboration with the participant, the family and support networks. Your ability to collaboratively work with families is essential.

A standout candidate will respect difference in all its forms, and fearlessly challenge discrimination, marginalisation, disempowerment and stigmatisation.

Your values & personal attributes

  • As one of the CSBS team, we would ask for your commitment to our values-based organisation and, as our representative, anticipate you will exercise a level of diligence, accountability and professionalism that reflects the reputation and standing of the company.
  • Have highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and develop and maintain strong relationships with a broad range of people as you deal with issues of a sensitive nature.
  • A patient and flexible nature with a strong sense of empathy.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in Supported Independent Living (SIL) service management
  • Minimum 3 years experience in supporting people with a disability
  • Relevant legislative personal history probity checks, including Yellow Card, or the ability to gain and maintain these
