The Youth Cancer Services (YCS) are specialised treatment and support services for young people with cancer, based in major hospitals throughout Australia. YCS provide medical, nursing and allied health professional services around Australia with a shared focus on improving outcomes for young people diagnosed with cancer.

The Role

As the Project Admin Officer, Youth Cancer Services (YCS), you will be responsible for supporting the Implementation of the Youth Cancer Service program and Clinical Trials initiative. You will play a key role in the YCS National team, assisting the Head of Patient Programs in the management of project progress and contract deliverables, as well as to develop and maintain relationships with all partners and stakeholders of the YCS program and Clinical Trials initiative.

Some key responsibilities of the Project Admin Officer role include:

  • Provide comprehensive and highly organised administrative and project support including data entry, documentation and record, distribution and tracking of correspondence, briefing materials, and the maintenance of communications and contact lists
  • Develop communication strategies and quality assurance processes and protocols to ensure a high level of achievement against project objectives
  • Ability to accurately monitor and maintain records of program expenditure to provide accurate up-to-date information
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, interact confidently, possessing strong writing, listening and questioning skills
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of project outcomes and escalation of issues for attention
  • Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Previous experience in a project support officer role gained within Government or Commercial sector, ideally with a focus on supporting and monitoring major programs, services, or projects will be highly regarded
  • Experience building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships in complex and dynamic project environment
  • High level of competency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, MSproject, Word and Excel.
  • Highly organised and able to manage time well and work flexibly without supervision.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the Youth Cancer Services and Clinical Trials Programs, including knowledge of their guiding principles, stakeholders, objectives and the status, timelines, and actions for all key projects

Employment Details:

Location: Work from home

Job type: 24 month contract; 0.6 FTE

Hours of work: 3 days/ 22.5 hours per week

As Canteen’s work involves employees being in direct contact with children and young people, employees are required to complete police and working with children checks, relevant to the State in which they will be employed.
