The Role

As State Manager you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality psycho-social support to young people and families impacted by cancer, through the provision of counselling services and digital in-person programs. 

Reporting to the Head of Services and Engagement, you will set and implement a strategic vision for both South Australia and the Northern Territory, in alignment with Canteen’s national strategic plan.  You will lead and support a multi-disciplinary services team of seven to ensure a high-quality approach to service delivery and a high-performance team culture.

You will be a strong leader with confident networking skills and proven experience building effective relationships with external stakeholders to drive organisational awareness and increase service opportunities across both service areas. You will be the brand representative for the wider Canteen organisation, responsible for working closely with fundraising, marketing, partnerships, policy and advocacy and research teams, to tailor and implement their national strategies at a local level.

Further responsibilities include:

• Oversee and manage the provision of individual assessment, support planning and counselling of young people living with cancer (YPLWC)
• Ensure high quality programs are delivered to a professional standard, on time, within budget and in accordance with KPI’s and direction from the Head of Clinical Practice and Head of Programs
• Attract, recruit, train and retain highly skilled staff who are driven to achieve outcomes for young people and families impacted by cancer.
• In collaboration with the Head of Services and the Head of Finance, ensure the effective financial and administrative operation of the state, including the preparation and use of relevant budgets.

Selection Criteria

• A tertiary qualification in allied health or relevant discipline and 5 years sector experience.
• Experience in managing multi-disciplinary psychosocial teams with demonstrated ability to develop an effective team culture and high performance.
• Proven experience in developing fundraising strategies and successfully reaching fundraising targets.
• Experience in delivering and/or coordinating organisational promotional activities for service delivery, fundraising, community and corporate sponsors and overall organisational profile building.
• Proven experience in building effective relationships with external stakeholders to drive organisational awareness and service growth.
• Project management, creativity and innovation is essential
