About the role

In this newly created position of Injury Management Officer, you will be contributing to providing a safe, healthy and engaged workforce. Your key focus will be injury and case management and supporting the Health, Safety and Rehabilitation team with specialist advice. You will be working with our experienced Injury Management Advisor on a clear strategy to deliver best practice early intervention and recovery at work.

Reporting to the Manager for Health, Safety and Rehabilitation, you will be fully involved in case management including reviewing claims, maintenance of the workers compensation databases and systems, workers compensation entitlements, and the interpretation of legislation, both Queensland and Victorian.

This is a busy and fast-paced environment and you'll feel comfortable with such. Your role will include reviewing medical assessments and investigations, identifying potential return to work barriers, as well as developing and implementing individual rehabilitation and recovery at work programs.

Supporting our line managers, you'll provide advice as well as coach and train them on procedural legislative and organisational obligations in rehabilitating injured or ill employees.

About you

Your background in claims management or injury management will give you the ability to objectively analyse injuries and provide advice on functional ability to undertake work duties required. You will have previously worked in a hands-on return to work assessment and support role, coupled with experience in a high-volume office environment.

You have an obvious compassion for people who are injured and struggling with injury and able to quickly establish rapport with people from a range of cultures, roles and locations.

You will be highly organised with an ability to monitor a large caseload and keep a proactive focus.

You possess a high level of influencing and negotiation skills that allow you to effectively work with a varied and complex group of stakeholders including Senior Managers, Insurers and Medical Providers.

Tertiary qualifications in an Allied or Health Professions (Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Physiotherapy, Nursing or Psychology) or equivalent experience would assist with success in this role. A Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Course Certification is essential, as is at strong experience within either claims management, injury management or a return to work role.

Experience in Queensland & Victorian Workers Compensation legislation will be highly regarded.

Importantly, you will be someone who closely aligns with our organisational values of: Unconditional Love, Continual Innovation, Mutual Trust and Wise Stewardship.
