The Colac Otway Shire Council are seeking a Coordinator Emergency Management to join the team in a permanent full time position.
Our shire offers a rewarding lifestyle change and is one of the most picturesque municipalities in Victoria, covering a diverse area from volcanic lakes, craters and plains in the north, through the hinterland forests of the Otway Ranges to the Great Ocean Road coastline. Colac is the key industrial, commercial and service centre for the shire and surrounding region with a population of 12,000. Apollo Bay is the other major urban centre with a permanent population of 1,000 that swells to over 15,000 during the summer season.

The Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking a Coordinator Emergency Management to join the team in a permanent full time position.
The term ‘emergency’ is used to describe a situation that:
Local government’s emergency management role is to reduce the likelihood and consequences of emergencies on communities and the environment by facilitating multi agency and community planning, supporting response and leading community relief and recovery after the immediate impacts have passed. Councils utilise a variety of approaches and local arrangements to best deliver these responsibilities to meet unique local needs.
Most of the activities carried out by councils occur in close conjunction with, or with direct support by, government departments and agencies. Local arrangements are specified in Municipal Emergency Management Plans, developed by multi-agency Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committees. Supporting our communities to improve their resilience in emergencies is also a critical emergency management strategy.
As the Coordinator Emergency Management, you will ensure that Council:
The successful applicant will be required to hold the relevant tertiary qualifications and/or have experience in emergency management, fire prevention management within local government, CFA or other relevant authority.
Salary information: $93,904.20 to $103,858.56 per annum plus superannuation.
