The Role

Corryong Health’s Mental Health Unit is committed to building a professional workforce that supports consumers with a mental illness on their recovery journey.

The role of the Community Mental Health Clinician is to provide evidence-based outreach services characterised by least restrictive, collaborative, recovery-oriented, nominated carer and/or family responsive and inclusive, rehabilitative, encouraging of self-advocacy, empowerment and optimal self-determination. A primary goal of this position is to work collaboratively with staff, consumers and other agencies to ensure effective participation in mental health treatment and recovery.

Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position at Corryong Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency, and have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and undertake a booster when eligible.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualifications as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker.
  • Registration: Full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, or Occupational Therapist OR for Social Workers, eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in mental health and discipline-specific assessments and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for consumer with persistent mental illness.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to work within experience in a clinical team and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health service provision.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Vic Mental Health Act, 2014
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and good interpersonal skills.
  • Computer competence and literacy including the use of database systems.
  • Current Drivers License valid within Australia.
