The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
Respondents in Family Violence matters during the court process. Through single session engagements with Respondents, you will play a key role in making referrals to behaviour change interventions. This includes conducting eligibility assessments and providing recommendations for Mandated Counselling Orders. You will establish and maintain relationships and work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including Judiciary, Court Registrars and community based organisations. You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in a related therapeutic discipline such as social work, psychology or social sciences, and demonstrated experience and knowledge of Family Violence including drivers, risks and issues that can exacerbate family violence risk.
You will also bring with you sound skills in the provision of support, crisis containment and risk assessment as well as a demonstrated ability to promote Respondent accountability and identify and work against collusion.
