About us
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role
- Provide specialist cultural knowledge to courts, lead the development and long-term alignment of culturally appropriate court responses for Aboriginal families affected by family violence. Specifically the Implementation of Family Violence intervention Order breaches in Koori Court and the MCV wide Koori Family Violence Strategy
- Lead the integration of Aboriginal family violence project initiatives into Court sites where Koori Family Violence projects are being implemented, including but not limited to project management and implementation plans
- Initiate and maintain effective stakeholder management and communications with key stakeholders to influence and create mutually beneficial partnerships essential to the success of the projects
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal communities and the impact that family violence has on the communities both socially and culturally
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current Victorian Aboriginal Family Violence policy context
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes
- Capacity to respond and communicate effectively with people from a range of diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to work within a culturally safe framework
- Demonstrates well developed planning and organisation skills
- Develops and applies systems and procedures to plan, organise and deliver operational outputs
- Sets priorities and monitors work flows to deliver workplace objectives within required timeframes
- Identifies, secures and allocates resources to deliver quality service outcomes.
