We are looking for an ethical, self motivated and experienced part-time bookkeeper to handle all aspects of the day to day accounts for our five vegan shops. You must have proven bookkeeping experience with Xero accounting software; some knowledge of Vend point of sale software would also be a benefit. You will be working with minimal supervision in a small team so the role would suit an organised, self motivated person with a high level of attention to detail.
This is a permanent part-time position, 4 days per week, located in Petersham, NSW.
Position description is as follows:
Your primary duties will involve all aspects of bookkeeping required by a small retail business including but not limited to:
- Accounts Payable
- matching invoices scans to Purchase Bills in Xero
- checking these entries, allocating a store location
- timely payment
- ensuring Credit Card statement balances are always paid in full by the due date
- monitoring cashflow (including ensuring cheque account balances have sufficient funds for regular direct debits, and that the available credit balances on Credit Cards are sufficient for regular weekly stock ordering)
- Accounts Receivable
- assigning a store location to all sales invoices
- Payroll
- processing fortnightly payroll for all staff (the fortnightly payroll period ends on a Tuesday and wages are paid during business hours the next day), and managing all associated entitlements eg superannuation, leave etc
- manually calculating monthly commission payments and then processing as part of every second payrun
- timely annual preparation of PAYG payment summaries and submission to ATO
- ensuring that rates are maintained in line with the relevant awards
- updating and maintaining payroll records
- All regular tasks in Xero, such as bank reconciliations
- completing all required Xero tasks (including end-of-month stock adjustments from Vend, and clearing of suspense accounts) in order that accurate financial reports for each month may be run by the 15th of the following month
- BAS reports completed quarterly and submitted to the ATO by the due date
- Petty cash duties
- Liaising with the company's accountant and seeking guidance where required
- Maintaining adequate security systems for sensitive information
- Insurance - ensuring adequate insurance including general business insurance and WorkCover requirements
- Any other ad hoc work as required
