About the Opportunity

Cumberland City Council is seeking an appropriately experienced and qualified professional to assist in building Council's capacity to respond to issues relating to homelessness within our LGA.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Relevant qualifications in Social Science, community development, social work or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in affordable housing issues and trends on a state and federal level
  • Experience in community and stakeholder engagement, including the ability to facilitate meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagement processes
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and strong time management and task prioritisation skills
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work productively as a member of a team and contribute to team goals
  • Current Working with Children Check.

Position information: This is a permanent, part-time position, working 21 hours per week.

This position will be located at Council's Merrylands office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,464.40 to $1,684.06 per week (per rata), plus 10.5% superannuation
  • Hourly rates between $41.84 to $48.11
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role.

Council fully supports the aims and objectives of NSW Child Protection Legislation, and associated provisions, and will implement all necessary measures to ensure a safe and supporting Council environment, which endeavours to promote child safe child friendly practices. It is essential for applicants to submit their WWCC number with their application. It is an offence under NSW legislation for barred workers to apply for or otherwise attempt to obtain, undertake or remain in child-related employment.
