About the Opportunity

This position is responsible for a range of community engagement programs and activities which aim to increase local residents’ participation in volunteering and employment opportunities. The position also works with local organisations to improve coordination of service delivery and enhance partnership development throughout the Cumberland LGA.

The position is responsible for:

  • Managing Council’s Volunteer Program including recruiting, retaining and rewarding volunteers.
  • Promoting partnership development, collaboration and communication between local service providers. This includes leading the planning of the quarterly Cumberland Community Sector Networking Forums.
  • Planning, developing, implementing and evaluating employment initiatives that address the employment and training needs of local residents including young people, migrants and refugees. This includes leading the development and implementation of the Employment Pathways Program for Cumberland Council.

This position will also be expected to work closely with Council’s Volunteer Development Worker who oversees the Volunteer Program within Council’s Aged & Disability Services.

The ideal candidate will have a high level of initiative, a ‘can do’ attitude, and be both people and results focused.

Salary: Employment is under the Local Government (State) Award. This position is placed in Grade 13 of Cumberland salary structure with a range of $1347.33 - $1,549.44 per week plus superannuation. Commencement salary will depend upon qualifications, experience and competencies.

Conditions of Employment: This is a permanent full time position with a flex-time or RDO arrangement available. This position will be located at the Merrylands Office and travel to other Council facilities will be required. Attendance of meetings and engagement activities after operating hours may be required.
