• Casual Disability Support Workers 
• West Division – Barwon Area (Geelong & Colac)

We are seeking committed Disability Support Workers for casual positions in the Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) facilities and Short-term Accommodation & Assistance (STAA – facility based respite) across the West Division of the Department of Health and Human Services.

About the Role

Our residents have various support needs and the role of a Casual Disability Support Worker involves:

• Supporting the individual’s participation within the community
• Providing personal care and companionship manual handling
• Transportation

The work includes support to residents 24 hours a day - including mornings, evenings, weekends, active nights and sleep overs.

You will also play an active role in facilitating the development and enhancement of independent living and other skills including the individual’s participation in the community.

Must haves!    

In order for your application to be considered you will already have met the following requirements:

• Australian Work Rights
• Working with Children Check (Employee)
• First Aid Certificate – Level 2 (including CPR)
• Reliable and flexible
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Empathy and a demonstrated ability to work with our residents to actively meet their individual goals
• Availability & willingness to commit to on-call and work shifts at short notice

Desirable

• Cert III or IV in Disability/Mental Health/Individual Support/Aged Care 

This role requires work-related travel across metropolitan and regional Victoria, on occasion at very short notice. The department will consider all reasonable adjustments for candidates with a disability.
