NSW Department of Education

ABOUT US

At the NSW Department of Education, children and young people are at the centre of all our decision-making. We are the largest provider of public education in Australia with responsibility for delivering high-quality public education to two-thirds of the NSW student population.

The NSW Department of Education is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce as an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer. We encourage diverse applicants from a range of backgrounds to apply.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Have you considered a career as a school psychologist? If so, apply for the KickStart School Psychology Program today.

This exciting new graduate program offers psychology graduates access to a tailored two-year comprehensive training and supervision program to become registered psychologists and join the NSW School Counselling Service.

As a KickStart participant, you will work collaboratively with a team of dedicated professionals to make a positive impact on the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.

If you are a recent psychology graduate who has successfully completed a 4-year psychology degree and have started or are eligible to complete your 4 + 2 psychology registration pathway, then this opportunity is for you.

Working with Australia’s largest provider of public education and one of the largest employers of psychologists in NSW, the NSW Department of Education will provide opportunities for you to engage with diverse school and student communities like no other child/adolescent psychologist role can. This is a chance to develop and use your skills to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people when it matters most.

Through the KickStart Program, you will participate in an intensive 3 – 4 month training program, to equip you with the necessary skills to work within the NSW School Counselling Service whilst undertaking your provisional registration program with the Psychology Board of Australia.

During the KickStart Program, you will be provided with the opportunity to work alongside experienced members of the School Counselling Service and undertake tailored professional learning

Upon successful completion of the KickStart Program and competency assessment, you will then be eligible to apply for ongoing full-time or part-time school psychologist roles within the NSW Department of Education.
