Different Journeys is an autism community organisation, providing events, peer support and education opportunities for autistic people and their families & carers. Our peer support team works together to get to know our guests at events and individually, to understand and advise on their needs, and help carers navigate support systems. Our peer supporters also help to research new supports and changes in our community, and develop new programs. Our approach builds communities and empowers people.

About the role: 

Applicants must have lived or living experience as a carer of an autistic person or people. There are two positions available each for about two days a week, structured around a Thursday morning carer catch-up in Lilydale area and otherwise flexible hours. Some travel around Melbourne is required, as is attending rostered events on weekends or in the evenings. 

  1. The Carer Peer Support Officer is responsible for attending and supporting at Different Journeys events across several locations
  2. The Carer Peer Support Officer will also provide direct peer to peer support to carers to support them to connect into the community and service support system
  3. You will liaise with the Project Co-Ordinator to ensure that we are meeting funding targets
  4. You will support the EO ensure Different Journeys functions effectively and efficiently whilst achieving its objectives and upholding Different Journeys’ values.
