Drummoyne Community Centre Incorporated is a not for profit neighbourhood centre responding to the needs of the City of Canada Bay community through programs, services, partnerships and community building activities in order to build a safe, inclusive community.
We are seeking a Transport Programs Officer to administer our community transport programs. The person will have a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, be tech savvy, able to plan, prioritise and multitask, work effectively under pressure, and have geographical knowledge of the City of Canada Bay Local Government Area.
Ability to work a Monday OR Tuesday is essential, other day is by negotiation
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To administer the DCC Transport Service Program that includes:
- The BayRider Shuttlebus service – transporting local residents to access services and facilities that enable them to stay healthy, independent and remain connected within their community. This service operates 2 days per week.
- Ring & Ride - coordinating volunteer drivers to use their own vehicles to transport residents to programs at DCC and in the community. It also acts as an overflow for the BayRider Service. This service operates as needed.
- Bay Tripper – coordinate volunteer drivers and tour guides to deliver minibus tours to places of interest and show the location of important services and facilities to new residents of the City of Canada Bay LGA. This service operates 2-3 times per year.
- Community Bus Hire – promote and facilitate DCC bus hire to other organisations eg nursing homes.
To liaise with partners and other community organisations to provide an efficient network of services whilst avoiding duplication of service delivery.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
BayRider Services (70%)
- Assess eligibility of prospective clients.
- Receive bookings from clients and notify them of their schedule
- Maintain computer record systems using industry specific scheduling software program TMA /TRIPS and input data for statistical purposes. Keep database of current transport clients current for mailout purposes
- Plan run list routes and schedule for drivers
- Instruct and support drivers
- Review and update client records and needs in TMA
- Assess and re-assess clients as their needs change over time
- Prepare transport runlist for participants requiring transport to DCC events (eg, morning teas, workshops) on an adhoc basis
Administration Duties (15%)
- Undertake reporting of the Transport Services Program through data collection and client surveys and prepare a report twice per year using provide templates.
- Keep driver and volunteer driver records and ensure that they are up-to-date (eg licences, registration, insurance details, police records, etc)
- Review and maintain Transport policies and procedures and develop new policy with support of DCC Manager
- Assist the Manager to promote DCC Transport Programs to residents, clients, and other suitable service providers
- Liaise with drivers and clients to ensure safe and efficient service
- Drive the Centre minibus if required eg for driver induction (standard driver’s license required)
- Organise maintenance and registration of minibus when required
- Schedule DCC bus driver to regularly clean the bus- once per term
- Any other duties as required from time to time by the Manager, consistent with level of skill and responsibility of the position.
Ring & Ride Service (5%)
- Recruit and screening potential volunteer drivers
- Receive bookings from clients and notify them of their schedule
- Plan routes and schedule for the volunteer driver/s
- Instruct and support drivers
- Input data for statistical purposes
Bay Tripper New Residents Tour (5%)
- Organise driver and Local history facilitator and select trip dates together
- Invite new residents to attend (details provided by Council) and manage the bookings
- Ensure the trip route covers any existing and new facilities of interest
Bus Hire (5%)
- Promote the DCC Minibus in the community and to other organisations to attract possible hirers.
- Administer hire and liaise with DCC Admin worker
- Secure a DCC Paid bus driver or test their volunteer bus driver
GENERAL
- Comply with the City of Canada Bay Council and NSW Government COVID-19 guidelines and the DCC COVID-19 Safety Plan in provision of services under the pandemic
- Respond in a professional manner to enquiries to the Centre whether by telephone or email or in person and refer enquiries appropriately to other staff when required
- Promote a positive image of DCC within the community
- Work collaboratively with team members
- Ensure adherence to all relevant legislative requirements eg Work Health and Safety

- Bilingual in a relevant community language
- Current driver’s licence and ability/ willingness to drive the minibus if needed (normal licence required)
- Experience in working with, and /or sensitivity towards, people in the target groups: older people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities
