About the Opportunity:

The Learning Development Officer will work under the direction of the ERCRS Team Leader in the delivery of the Debney Meadows Primary School Learning Support Program. The position will be responsible for developing a learning based educational program for the Debney Meadows Primary School Prep – Grade 6 Homework Club students.

The Learning Development Officer will have key responsibilities in the operational delivery of the program. The Learning Development Officer will be required to manage, develop, and deliver the program including the design of activities and lessons. It is expected that each activity and lesson will have a proposed learning outcome for the tasks to increase engagement for both participants and families. In this program there is a specific focus on literacy, but there requires an incorporation of other learning areas such as numeracy, art, and STEM.

It will be the role of the Learning Development Officer to consult with the Victorian Curriculum, Debney Meadows Primary School teachers and the Program Coordinator to develop a variety of high-quality learning tools and activities that are engaging for students.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing professional support in learning and development to the ERCRS team members and volunteers, demonstrating a wide range of teaching strategies to ensure a quality program is established.
  • Consulting the Victorian Curriculum and liaise with Debney Meadows Primary classroom teachers regarding learning content and specific student needs.
  • Matching students to suitable volunteer mentors/tutors.
  • Supporting and supervising volunteers and childcare minders.
  • Purchasing of program equipment and resources.
  • Creating an inclusive learning environment for all to ensure participants reach their full potential.

This position is part time (0.4, 15 hours per week) on a fixed term contract to 30 November 2023.

About You:

This role would suit someone who is experienced in designing and implementing learning activities appropriate to children’s developmental stages. You will be an organised self-manager who thrives on building relationships and having a positive impact on the community.

You will also have:

  • A primary school teaching qualification OR are currently completing your 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood/Primary)
  • A current National Police Check and Working with Children Check
  • An understanding of and a commitment to the Child Safe Standards and Principles
  • A well-developed administrative and organisational skills
  • An ability to communicate well with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • An apply first aid certificate or willingness to acquire one after successful application
  • An ability to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
