Turning Point

The Victorian Government has recently appointed Turning Point, Australia’s leading addiction treatment, research and education centre, to set up a new state-wide specialist service to support Victoria’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Services as well as community alcohol and other drug (AOD) services to provide integrated care for people living with co-occurring mental illness and substance use or addiction.

This new service will lead innovative, high impact, interdisciplinary, addiction and mental health research and education and support the delivery of expert primary and secondary consultation for people with the most complex needs, across Victoria’s transformed Mental Health and Wellbeing System.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced education and training professional join our team and oversee the establishment of services and programs to increase the workforce capability of a broad range of mental health and alcohol and other drug practitioners and clinicians across Victoria. This role will make a major contribution to establishment of the new state-wide specialist service particularly in the area of enhanced workforce capability.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Demonstrated high level capacity in leading the development and delivery of significant and/or complex education and training projects
  • Post-graduate tertiary qualification in the health, social or behavioural sciences field
  • Clinical experience in the alcohol and drug or mental health fields or sound understanding of current alcohol and drug and mental health issues
  • Ability to project manage a number of education/training projects
  • Ability to conceptualise new education/teaching subjects and ideas and develop curriculum
  • Well-developed computing skills, including word processing (e.g. Microsoft Office)
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise, influence and negotiate with funders and other stakeholders
  • Experience in successfully working with health care professionals and executive staff at a senior organisational level across multifaceted health and community services sectors
