About the Opportunity

Nunkuwarrin Yunti has multiple opportunities for motivated Social and Emotional Wellbeing Counsellors to join their team, based in Yorke Peninsula.

These positions can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis.

Reporting to the Link-Up Team Manager, your focus in this role will be on providing social and emotional well-being counselling services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to facilitate improvements in wellbeing.

This will be achieved through the following (but will not be limited to):

  • Assisting in the planning, development, implementation and promotion of services which enhance the capacities of Indigenous families and individuals;
  • Providing the community with education and awareness through presentations covering social and emotional well-being services and improvements that are available;
  • Ensuring clients have their needs identified and managed while being treated respectfully;
  • Providing grief, loss and trauma counselling to individuals and families;
  • Undertaking home visits and outreach counselling when required; and
  • Developing and implementing Program policies and procedures and ensuring they are kept up to date.

About You

Nunkuwarrin Yunti is seeking a candidate with Tertiary qualifications in Narrative Approaches. However, candidates with qualifications in Social Work/Science, Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health or a related field will also be considered.

You will also have a proven work history in counselling, along with an understanding of social and emotional wellbeing issues related to working with Aboriginal people, organisations and communities, specifically with regards to contemporary issues of their history and the effects of their forcible removal and institutionalisation.

Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is essential.

The successful candidate will have a background in individual and group counselling services, along with the ability to manage a complex clinical client caseload.

You will have exceptional interpersonal communication skills and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Ideally, the successful candidate will live in or close to the Yorke Peninsula to ensure they are able to successfully undertake all required travel across the Peninsula.

The successful candidate will receive an attractive annual salary circa $69,255 - $73,817 (commensurate with qualifications and experience) plus super and generous salary sacrificing opportunities.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to undertake travel throughout Yorke Peninsula and will be provided with a vehicle to complete any work-related travel.
