What you'll be doing
As part of the Hornsby Mental Health Administration Ward Clerk Casual Pool you will:
- Complete all required administrative tasks in a timely and efficient manner and support the NUM and Nursing staff as required within one of our fast paced inpatient services as operational needs indicate.
- Answer phone calls, assist with enquiries from patients, their family and carers referring to the appropriate clinician for patient information, answer the intercom and advise clinical staff of visitors to the ward.
- Ensure that the bed board is updated as required, manage and perform patient admissions, discharges and transfers via the relevant databases (i.e. eMR), ensuring all patient information is accurate.
- Ensure all discharge summaries are sent out to relevant teams and General Practitioners within 48 hours of discharge.
- Order Medical Records through Health Information Services (HIS) as required.
- Maintain storage of patient medical records on the ward, ensure that Medical Records and Discharge paperwork are ready for return to HIS within 48 hours of discharge.
- Maintain stationary, office supplies and MHOAT forms stock.
- Organise maintenance and repairs of faulty equipment, liaise with cleaners and trades persons, attending to the ward keeping records of all invoices and work completed.
