Position Summary
The End Street Sleeping Collaboration Community Impact Officer will work with social services organisations, governments and local communities in NSW to reduce, and ultimately end street sleeping.
The Community Impact Officer will be an essential member of a small, dedicated team in a fast evolving organisation. A cooperative, flexible approach and commitment to the vision and values of the End Street Sleeping Collaboration are essential. This position will work with defined communities in Greater Sydney and Regional NSW. They will also assist with communities in other NSW locations on an ad hoc basis
Principle Responsibilities
The aim of this role is to work with local communities and key stakeholders to reduce homelessness through the implementation of the By-Name List client database, as well as using support methodology and collaborative approaches to reducing street sleeping in these communities. The Community Impact Officer will provide active guidance, support and resources, including working with communities to:
- Design and deliver initiatives that support the integration of the By-Name List methodology into local homelessness service systems
- Create Collaboration governance structures that support effective, coordinated and targeted initiatives to achieve the community’s goals to reduce homelessness
- Identify local systems gaps, barriers or blockages that impact on the smooth and timely provision of services, and trial alternative approaches
- Monitor community performance against set goals and develop initiatives to continuously improve outcomes
- Engage a broad range of partners in the work to end street sleeping
- Connect with other local communities and state-wide, national and international efforts to end street sleeping.
The Community Impact Officer will work closely with the other members of the Community Impact Team, the CEO and End Street Sleeping Collaboration team more broadly. This will include:
- Developing tools, practices and resources that communities need to implement a quality By-Name List
- Contributing to strategic and project delivery plans
- Participating in the corporate and administrative aspects of the organisation.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in social services
- Demonstrated experience in homelessness services or other social service provision (experience with homelessness services in a regional context is highly desirable)
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience in the use of data to inform and shape effective social service delivery interventions, and formulate strategies for systems change
- Experience in the design and implementation of evaluation, performance monitoring and outcome measurement frameworks
- Excellent relationship management skills and the ability to work across a complex network of stakeholders and communities, including developing successful partnerships and creating opportunities for creative, sustainable and collaborative outcomes
- Excellent communication and engagement skills including high level written and interpersonal communication, problem solving, negotiation, conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training, workshops and presentations and facilitating groups.
- Understanding of privacy and security requirements in managing sensitive, personal information
- A cooperative, flexible approach and commitment to the vision and values of the End Street Sleeping Collaboration are essential.

- Location: This position is based in Sydney, with regular travel to designated regional communities.
- Travel Requirements: This position will work with communities in Greater Sydney, as well as potentially in the Central Coast, Newcastle and Mid-North Coast, Wollongong and the Illawarra. Travel within NSW and occasional interstate travel will be required.
