The Parenting Orders Program (POP) provides therapeutic counselling and group programs for parents and children experiencing post separation related issues.  

The POP program aims to support families to move from high levels of conflict around their post separation parenting arrangements, to insightful, sensitive and competent parenting, focusing on their children at all times.

About the position

As a POP Family Practitioner you will assist separated families who are in high level conflict to effectively manage their parenting arrangements and understand the impact of conflict on their children. You will undertake assessments, individual counselling and group work with separated families in accordance with court directed orders.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications, preferably post graduate or relevant equivalent qualifications in Social Work or Psychology.
  • Eligible for membership of AASW, AAFT, APS or PACFA member associations.
  • Experience with post separation, Family Law, mental health, sexual abuse, trauma and family violence issues.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience working within multi-disciplinary teams to provide a high level of performance and innovation preferably relating to Family Relationships/Family Support areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to undertake assessments, to work effectively and have a desire to work with parents individually and in small groups who have experienced high levels of conflict.
  • Experience in working with and understanding of developmental and therapeutic needs of children who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect.
  • Counselling experience with a particular emphasis on work with children and families.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working as an independent counsellor within a team environment.
