About the role

The aim of this newly established role will be to contribute towards building fit-for-purpose organisational wellbeing solutions by understanding organisational factors that impact psychological health in the workplace. 

The successful applicant will have behavioural science skills and knowledge across a wide range of organisational psychology areas including: occupational, selection and research psychology; training development and delivery; leadership development and performance enhancement. 

Functional Accountabilities include

  • Working with other members of the Psychological Services team, apply knowledge of psychological principles, best practice standards, and  behavioural insights to support the development and implementation of organisational wellbeing programs that proactively protect, promote and support the wellbeing of FRV employees, retirees and their families;
  • Provide specialist advice on the risk management of organisational psychosocial hazards, including understanding psychosocial risks specific to FRV, and  providing specialist advice to leaders to help them better manage occupational health risks;
  • Co-create and implement best practice interventions and initiatives to enhance leadership capability in the proactive protection and promotion of mental health;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, adopting a business partnering approach to contribute towards building  fit-for-purpose organisational wellbeing solutions;
  • Support the Psychological Services team in wellbeing projects and service delivery as required and, during times of peak service demand, partake in the rotating roster for the on-call service.

About you

To be considered for this role you must have:​ 

  • Extensive demonstrated experience as an organisational psychologist;
  • Demonstrated understanding of organisational factors that impact psychological health in the workplace;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing organisational psychological initiatives and interventions;
  • Demonstrated adherence to professional codes of conduct, including strict adherence to privacy and confidentiality principles;
  • Demonstrated work experience in the emergency services sector (highly desirable);
  • Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and endorsement as an Organisational Psychologist - essential;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources/ Human Factors with relevant experience in Industrial/Organisational Psychology - desirable; 
  • AHPRA/COP registration as a Board Approved Supervisor - desirable

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) is a modern fire and rescue service that meets the needs of twenty-first century Victoria. Established on 1 July 2020 as part of Victoria's Fire Services Reform, FRV serves and protects communities across Melbourne and Victoria's major regional centres.

The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Department falls under the Office of the Fire Rescue Commissioner Directorate which is responsible for all aspects of the work of Fire Rescue Victoria, including the health safety and wellbeing of all staff, Government liaison on any matters that relate to FRV, performance monitoring and assurance activities and specialist practice leadership including PFAS.
