Forensic mental health is a specialist area within the mental health service system. The services provided by Forensicare address the needs of offenders experiencing mental health issues, the mental health sector, the justice sector and the general community.

These services are delivered through three streams, inpatient services at Thomas Embling Hospital, community services through the Community Forensic Mental Health Service and prison-based services at several locations. About the role:

As part of the 2021/22 state budget the Victorian Government is investing $349.6 million to deliver an additional 82 beds at the Thomas Embling Hospital, to include a 34-bed women’s precinct and a 48-bed medium secure men’s precinct. Concurrently Forensicare has recently launched its new model of care which demonstrates how Forensicare will deliver best practice mental health care and treatment for consumers. The expansion is currently scheduled for completion in mid-2024.
