Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria. This position is located at the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) in Clifton Hill, 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD. CFMHS is a specialist state-wide agency that works with individuals who have a serious mental health illness and have offended or are at risk of offending.
The Forensicare Serious Offender Consultation Service supports Corrections Victoria through providing high level clinical and risk assessment of Serious Violent and/or Sexual Offenders on parole, community corrections orders and/or post-sentence supervision orders, with acute or serious enduring serious mental illness and complex needs; who present a high risk of further serious violent and/or sexual offending in the community. The Senior Clinician will provide expert consultancy and coordination of services state wide, across both justice and health networks of offenders with complex needs.
About you:
- Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery and incorporating consumer perspectives into service delivery.
- Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate Board or Association as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist.
- If a psychologist, completion of Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent or a Doctorate degree in Forensic psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent, endorsement or eligibility for endorsement by the Psychology Board of Australia in the area of clinical psychology, and endorsement or eligibility for endorsement by the Psychology Board of Australia, in the area of forensic psychology.
- Demonstrated minimum 5 years post registration mental health experience in a relevant mental health and/or justice/forensic setting.
- Experience in undertaking comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments, and in the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical mental health interventions.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to consult, liaise, facilitate and negotiate with key stakeholders, mental health professionals, clients and carers.
- Knowledge of forensic mental health and forensic mental health risk assessment.
- Significant knowledge of contemporary mental health treatment methods.
- A sound knowledge of legislation relevant to the target population.
- Demonstrated ability to provide supervision of students.
- Ability to deliver specialist care coordination of services including clinical, primary, secondary and tertiary consultation within complex and dynamic environments.
- Proven skills and experience in the development and implementation of complex plans
Mandatory qualifications & registrations:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing OR Masters/Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology OR Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology OR Approved degree in Occupational Therapy recognised for membership of OT Australia OR Approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA) (if applicable)
- This position is subject to a Police Check.
