Who are we?

Adult Autism Services (AAS) by Giant Steps Melbourne is a post school program for young adults with autism located in Hawthorn and Kew. We foster a positive, supportive and collaborative workplace culture and we hope to find the right support workers to join our professional team.

We are committed to encouraging independence for our participants through person-centred, strength-based approaches, utilising active support principals.

What is the role?

As a support worker, your role is to support participants to access, engage in and complete their daily programs, targeting specific and individualised goals.

The role requires passion, patience, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and make a difference.

What requirements are there to work with us?

  • Be eligible to work in Australia
  • Certificate IV in Disability, Community Service or similar, (desirable but not required)
  • A ‘can do’ enthusiastic approach to active support
  • Working with Children’s Check
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • Fully vaccinated against Covid-19, including a booster
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of the sector (desirable, however, on the job training is provided)
  • Confidence in written and verbal communication

You must be able to work both as a team and independently, to contribute ideas, be flexible and adaptive. Candidates must be proactive, highly attentive to supporting the needs of participants and be keen to learn and develop professionally.
