Established in 2013, HALT is a grass roots for purpose suicide prevention organisation.

HALT is seeking a Project Worker to support its work in the South Eastern Melbourne area (targeting Dandenong, Casey, Cardinia areas). This is a contract position until June 30, 2025.

This role will see you working in community making important connections, delivering suicide prevention messaging to building and construction sites, TAFE, retail trade and other trade and blue collar based industry.

This position will work on a hybrid model, working from home and a strategic office location (around Dandenong)

This innovative project is funded through the Commonwealth Department of Health, South East Melbourne Primary Health Network and is being evaluated by Swinburne University.

HALT is looking for someone with a strong connection to trade, blue collar industry and community within this target area and a proven ability to quickly build rapport.

The successful candidate will be confident speaking in a range of public settings to a variety of audiences and will often be required to get to early toolbox talks and breakfast meetings to deliver a HALT event.

The role requires you to connect and engage with trade and blue collar workers and organisations and provide key messages about:

  • Suicide prevention
  • Help seeking behaviour
  • Reducing stigma associated with mental health
  • Promoting protective factors for good physical and mental health.
  • Identifying and understanding suicide risk factors.
