More about the role

The role of the Bereavement Counsellor is to work within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure a high standard of bereavement counselling service is provided to clients accessing the HammondCare Bereavement Support Service. The bereavement counsellor will participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a patient-centred, evidence informed, continuous quality improvement work environment that is consistent with the values and ethics of HammondCare and the Australian Association of Social Workers.

About you - Selection Criteria

  1. Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Mission in Action
  2. A recognised tertiary qualification in Social Work or Clinical Psychology or other related disciplines
  3. Relevant to discipline registration with ACPA, AHPRA or PACFA or eligibility for membership of the AASW
  4. Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in providing counselling with specialisation in bereavement, loss and grief or equivalent
  5. Experience in facilitating support groups
  6. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
  7. Demonstrated organisation and time management skills
  8. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  9. A current drivers licence and safe driving record
  10. Willingness to travel between HammondCare’s sites and services
