HammondCare are continually expanding and growing our specialised services across Australia and have a number of exciting opportunities for health professionals (Registered Nurses AND Allied Health professionals) looking to further develop and/or broaden their skills in a Dementia Consultancy role.
These exciting opportunities exist within our Dementia Centre – the Dementia Centre was founded by HammondCare in 1995 as an impartial resource and provider of research, knowledge, consultancy and expertise to the aged and dementia care community. HammondCare is an independent Christian charity specialising in dementia care, palliative care, rehabilitation and specialist mental health for older people and other health and aged services.
As thought leaders in the area of dementia it is about sharing and translating evidence based knowledge, skill and advice on dementia care through holistic approaches that are clinical and psychosocial in their approach. A Dementia Centre Consultant will work at the cutting edge of evidence based practice. The Centre is an International thought leader and our work and practice requires that consultants who are current and equipped in their knowledge and practice to support services across Australia and Internationally.
Our services are varied and include specialist response teams who engage when someone with dementia who has acute or on going needs related to behaviour and psychological symptoms that may be caused by dementia. Consultants needs to be proactive in understanding the person, as often what is perceived as ‘behaviour’ has a root cause of unmet needs. Consultants will work on a range of projects including HammondCare’s services supporting our mission in action and model of care in our residential and community based services. Consultants can work to their area of expertise, focusing on practice, clinical needs research and on the floor support.
