Position Description

This position is part of the Consumer and Community Participation team reporting to the Executive Director to coordinate consumer input into health infrastructure projects, including the Surgical Procedures, Interventional Radiology and Emergency (SPIRE) Centre project.

Remuneration

This is a part time position (30 hours per week). HCCA promotes a healthy work-life balance and is committed to offering employees a supportive family friendly working environment. Your remuneration will be based on Community Services Worker Level 6 (pay point 1) which is currently $42.12 per hour plus superannuation. A probation period will apply for the first 3 months of employment.

This is a part time contract position until end October 2020, with possibility of extension. Other conditions of employment will be based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS).

Detailed Position Description

The Coordinator will work under limited direction by the Executive Director to:

  • Advocate for consumer needs in infrastructure projects
  • Support consumer representatives on a range of committees involved in the design of SPIRE
  • Represent HCCA on a range of committees involved in health infrastructure
  • Network with consumer and community groups to further consumer involvement in informing decisions regarding SPIRE and other infrastructure projects. This will include outreach to a range of stakeholders including people living with chronic conditions, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with disabilities.
  • Liaise with ACT Government about opportunities for consumer involvement in health infrastructure projects

HCCA works within a Community Development Framework and is informed by the Social Determinants of Health.

Selection Criteria

  1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate information and ideas, work cooperatively with others, and negotiate and advocate on behalf of consumers
  2. Strong understanding of community development and experience in community engagement, including the capacity to represent the organisation in public forums and facilitate meetings, information sessions and workshops
  3. Demonstrated project management skills and experience
  4. Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and facilitate workshops, information sessions, discussion groups and public meetings
  5. Proven ability to develop and maintain strong networks and partnerships with key stakeholders
  6. Computer literacy including experience with MS Office and research skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Relevant tertiary or other recognised qualifications
  2. Understanding of governance principles and committee processes

Requirements

  • ACT driver’s license
  • Working With Vulnerable People Registration
