We are currently accepting applications from dynamic, enthusiastic and flexible individuals who are passionate about enriching the lives of the people involved in our Community Justice Program (CJP). The primary aims of the CJP, is to provide support to customers who have exited a correctional facility, minimise the risk of our customers reoffending and promote a pro-social and independent lifestyle. We do this by providing quality support and a multi-disciplinary approach.

This position includes one to one outreach support in the community, as well as working in our supported accommodation service

The role will involve

  • Building trust and rapport with customers to enable meaningful professional relationships
  • Providing direct support to individuals who experience a range of personal issues relating to intellectual disability, alcohol and other drugs addictions, history of complex trauma and personality disorders
  • Linking customers to other relevant services and supports and ensuring they are referred on as required
  • Representing the organisation professionally at all times in a range of forums, including supporting customers at court and legal appointments.

We would like to hear from you if you possess the following essential criteria

  • Have a passion for supporting people with a disability to achieve their goals
  • Certificate IV in Individual Support/Mental Health or Community Services – other relevant certificates will be considered
  • Case management experience in the human services environment
  • Established interpersonal skills (verbal and written communication)
  • Demonstrated capacity to support people with a disability who have had contact with the Criminal Justice System
  • Experience working with people who have complex and high support needs, as well as mental health diagnosis, alcohol and other drug addictions and personality disorders
  • Experience working with people who have sexualised behaviour or who are on the sex offender registry
  • Ability to establish clear and professional boundaries
  • Have a strong commitment to authentic person centred practice
  • Availability to work across a 24 hour / 7 day a week rotating roster, which may include day, afternoon, sleepover and weekend shifts

You will also need

  • A current First Aid Certificate or are willingness to obtain one prior to commencing employment
  • A current Drivers Licence
  • A current Working With Children's Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one prior to commencing employment
  • Australian Citizenship, permanent residency or have indefinite working rights
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite
