HeartKids is the only national not-for-profit organisation that supports and advocates for those impacted by congenital or childhood-onset heart disease (CHD), one of the leading causes of infant death in Australia. This includes babies, children, teens, adults, and their families and carers, as well as the health professionals who provide care for them.

Our work is focused on the community as we support, inform and educate families and advocate for the CHD community.

Purpose of the position

To develop and execute the creation and delivery of a series of digital and communication projects. The projects focus on the areas of consumer education and information resources, digital assets and professional resources and support material. This includes responsibility for; podcast production, fact sheet and information booklets, educational videos, some social media content, product management of an app, website administration and other digital tools and resources.

Additionally, this role will support the implementation of a digital marketing strategy to ensure the uptake of the deliverables including working with key partners and stakeholders and promotion through new and existing channels.

The role will work closely with expert groups and individuals, health professionals and consumers, partner with key stakeholders, and will be responsible for coordinating all elements to be delivered on time and ensuring they meet all Department of Health deliverables where applicable.

Skills, qualifications and attributes

  • Tertiary qualification in communications, combined with experience in a marketing and/or communications, digital strategy, especially communication planning and digital reporting
  • Previous experience in project coordination including implementing projects to achieve project and organisation goals and support asset promotion and uptake
  • A creative thinker than can problem solve innovative and novel solutions to identified key communication priorities
  • Attention to detail with strong organisational skills and ability to work under tight timeframes
  • A strong communicator that has experience working sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Well developed content design and development skills including digital publishing
  • An understanding of the not-for-profit and/or the health sector is preferable
  • An understanding of the fundamentals of both traditional and digital marketing and ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written, digital and video format
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a busy team whilst taking ownership and managing multiple, competing deadlines
  • Strong planning and time management skills, with precise attention to detail and excellent editing, proofing and copywriting skills
  • Ability to work with and manage a wide variety of stakeholders varying from consumers to health professionals to other key charities and health organisations
  • Strong knowledge of Canva, Adobe Suite, Google Analytics, social media, content management systems and Microsoft Suite
  • A current National Police Criminal History Check and a current Working with Children Check
  • A sense of humour, fun and inspiration
