Hireup is a socially-driven startup using technology to revolutionise the way Australians with disability find, hire and manage their own support workers. We connect people with disability and support workers online through a peer-to-peer platform. The platform we’re building is already having a huge impact on the disability sector; we have more than 12,000 people on the platform and grew by over 700% in 2016. Since launch, we have saved people with disability over $1.5m in support funding by building great technology for them to find the support they need.

To maintain our ambitious growth targets, we are looking for a highly impactful UX Designer that thrives on solving problems and seeking out elegant and seamless solutions to opportunities and challenges.

Priorities - about the work

Our goal is to create the most elegant, intuitive, accessible and powerful platform in Australia that enables us to maintain an efficient and lean model that maximises choice and control for Australians with a disability and their support workers.

As the first UX Designer on the product team, you will be central to shaping the user experience and, by extension, creating real and positive outcomes for Australians with disability. Hireup is the first of its kind in the peer-to-peer space and will provide you with the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping an innovative and impactful product. You will be working in our product team alongside experienced tech strategists, a UI designer and our engineering team.

The role will involve:

• Facilitating workshops and research with users and the product team to understand business requirements and validate design decisions
• Proactively identify areas for product improvement and devise elegant solutions
• Creating user journeys, user stories, wireframes and interactive prototypes for web, mobile and tablet
• Work collaboratively with the product team to rapidly test and iterate on designs

Skills - about the person

• At least 3 years of experience as a UX Designer, ideally with experience working across complex web and mobile products
• Experience in user research, workshop facilitation, persona definition, usability and accessibility
• Experience using customer insights and data to inform and validate design decisions
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate the design process, ideas, and solutions to the team
• Wireframing and prototyping experience with Axure/Invision
• Driven to take a leadership role in a start up environment
• Exhibits adaptability, resilience, transparency, trustworthiness, passion and innate curiosity
