Program support to the team with the development and delivery comprehensive range of engagement and pathway programs for young people.
What you'll be doing:
- Provide support in the planning and delivery of a diverse range of programs, activities and events for young people predominately aged 18 to 24 years and support their participation and engagement.
- Provide program support in the delivery of initiatives that develop young people's capabilities, and strengthen links between schools, training and higher education providers and local businesses.
- Assist in promoting key events and activities across Hume that provide opportunities for young people and families to engage and connect with their local communities including use of social media platforms.
- Provide young people and their families with information and referral to services/ organisations that may assist them to achieve enhanced health, wellbeing, education and training and employment outcomes.
- Maintain attendance and participant records.
- Maintain awareness of current youth sector information and trends to enable responsive approaches to service delivery.
- Regularly update social media platform to ensure young people and families are aware of programs and activities being delivered.
The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:
- Knowledge and experience in the development, facilitation and evaluation of youth programs, events and activities, in the context of local government service delivery or similar field.
- Experience in utilising youth engagement as a tool to connect and work with young people, enabling the development of appropriate outcome focused programs and opportunities.
- Developed skills relating to young people and an understanding of the issues that impact upon young people and their connection to family and community.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to accurately document youth programs and report upon performance and outcomes to Council or funding bodies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to contribute to the achievement of the departments goals and objectives.
- Skills in managing time, setting priorities planning and organising one's own work under broad guidelines.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- A certificate or tertiary qualifications in the area of youth, recreation or community services or relevant experience.
- Knowledge and application of the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria - Code of Ethical Practice and its influence on working with young people.
- A current Victorian driver's licence.
- First Aid qualification to Level 2
