We are looking for casual Support Workers to contribute to the success of Statewide Autistic Services (SASI) by operating as a Support Worker to provide exceptional service and support clients that have an NDIS funding plan.

Statewide Autistic Services (SASI) is part of the Independence Australia Group (IAG) which is a social enterprise that provides choices for people living with a disability or other personal needs, enabling them to regain and retain their independence within a supportive community.

IAG services and operations include disability and allied health support services, sale of products and mobility equipment and aids to support independent living through its national disruption centre network, retail outlets and local customer service call centre. 
 
These positions contribute to the success of Statewide Autistic Services (SASI) by operating as a Support Worker to provide exceptional service and support clients that have an NDIS funding plan.

The key purpose of this position is to provide high quality supports in centre, community and individualised based services to support and promote inclusion, personal growth and independent living skills for people with living with ASD and/or other disabilities.

This position is reports directly to the nominated Practice Leader (refereed to a PL) and/or their delegate.

We are offering the following;

  • $32.21 per hour + 25% casual loading

WORKING WITH IA

  • The role of a Support worker includes, but is not limited to the following:
  • Provide active support to clients based on their goals and NDIA plan, implementing all supports within the plan including formal, mainstream and funded supports
  • Actively support all aspects of client care and provide supports that maximise independence of clients
  • Use a strengths-based approach when working with clients and with behaviours of concern following strategies detailed in Positive Behaviour Support Plans (BSP)
  • Build effective relationships with clients and their families while maintaining appropriate and professional boundaries
  • Achieving program objectives; client feedback; results of initiatives; and observation and monthly feedback and team meetings in consultation with PL 
  • Exhibit reliability, punctuality, confidentiality and professionalism in all work-related tasks
  • Successfully build rapport with clients, supporting them to achieve personal growth whilst displaying sensitivity to the client’s abilities and strengths

WORKING WITH YOU

To be successful you will bring the following:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Disability or or equivalent relevant tertiary qualification in, Individual Support, Community Services, or substantial demonstrated experience
  • Previous experience in the disability sector or a related sector including: knowledge of providing client choice and self-directed
  • Applying person centred planning approaches to service delivery
  • Autism experience
  • Achieving individual outcomes for people with a disability
  • Preparation of individualised reports and other written material 
  • Positive interpersonal and computer skills including promoting effective communication
  • First Aid Level 2
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills and behaviours, incorporating verbal and written communication, flexibility, resilience
