We have a great office space in Clayton where you would be a key part of a passionate, highly skilled and friendly team. Importantly, due to the conditions throughout the pandemic, we are utilising a hybrid working arrangement with great effect.

We are currently looking for an experienced Easy Read/Easy English Managing Editor who will embrace our values and positive work culture, working collaboratively with our team on editorial, web and accessibility projects. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Easy Read/Easy English Managing Editor will:

  • Play a vital role in our Easy Read/Easy English offering to clients – writing, reviewing and editing.
  • Have a minimum of three years of experience in writing high quality Easy Read/Easy English content.
  • Possess exceptional attention to detail and project management skills, to ensure high quality client service and project deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain a track record of delivering projects on time and on budget, as well as the ability to work to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Proofread documents, taking changes in accurately.
  • Ensure that our documents meet our clients’ visual and editorial style guidelines.
  • Write and review quotes, tenders and grant applications.
  • Be friendly, flexible, creative, curious and have an ability to think critically.
  • Be confident on the phone and willing to educate clients in the amazing work we do.
  • Effectively liaise with Team Leaders and the Editorial Quality Manager and provide oversight, input and editorial back up.
  • Support the Editorial Quality Manager and assist in further developing the Easy Read continuous improvement program in place which incorporates imparting knowledge and learnings (both written and via training).
  • Support and mentor editorial team colleagues with their Easy Read editorial work and in the process, build strong rapport and working relationships.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Applicants are requested to address the following selection criteria when applying for the position. Please provide a detailed response for each criterion.

Required:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in writing high quality Easy Read/Easy English content.
  • University Degree/Masters qualification or equivalent experience in writing and editing high quality Easy Read/Easy English content.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and foster strong relationships with a range of stakeholders (e.g. clients and fellow team members).
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confident user of the Microsoft Office suite.

Desirable:

  • Project management experience, delivering projects in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards, or a willingness to learn about it.
  • Confident user of the Adobe Creative suite.
  • Government, community or disability sector experience.
