Volunteer - Social Media / Marketing / Communications

Inner West for Refugees

the organisation

Inner West for Refugees – a volunteer community advocacy group.

We have recently received a grant from City of Sydney to host three events (March, June, October 2022).

We are a small group with volunteers only and we focus on creating a more welcoming Sydney, on raising the voices of refugees and asylum seekers, advocating against indefinite detention and fundraising for organisations doing great work in this space in NSW.

Purpose of volunteer role

We are a small group of professionals with a range of experience however we lack experience in social media marketing.

This is an excellent way to get experience or simply volunteer your time for social justice and human rights!

The three events comprise:

  • an educational/networking event (morning);
  • a cocktail fundraising event including silent auction (evening) - this one we hope to raise a lot of money! Please see here for last years fundraising event: https://www.iw4refugees.org/welcome-refugees-fundraiser
  • a celebratory event for people seeking asylum & refuge (daytime).

  • Content creation for social media and scheduling of posts

  • Attending events and coordinating with photographer and speakers for content creation
  • Helping us raise our target of $15,000 for refugee rights in June!
