About the program

Our Housing and Complex Needs services provide a suite of holistic support services for people who present with multiple and complex needs. Services include: supported accommodation, case management, intensive outreach support, recreation programs, employment/training programs, and a 24/7 after-hours emergency assistance and referral service.

Dillon House delivers the important 24 hour supported accommodation component of the Next Steps Program, providing a safe and welcoming home environment which incorporates a living skills program for up to 3 Next Steps participants.

Perry House is a residential based living skills program for young people with intellectual disabilities involved with youth justice and correctional services. Perry House provides a safe and welcoming home for young people who are at risk of re-offending and who require support to learn positive behaviours and develop essential independent living skills to live autonomously in the community. Perry House accommodates up to 4 young people for up to two years.

About the role

We are seeking staff to work across Dillon and Perry House to:

  • To provide afterhours support, incorporating sleepover shifts
  • To engage with residents throughout the shift both in the house and on excursions
  • To work independently at the house while assisting participants with daily tasks and adhering to any specific routine requirements of the program
  • To support residents to develop their independent living skills

Candidate Requirements

This role will suit a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  • An ability and commitment to work as part of a team to support young people within a residential environment.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in working effectively with young people who may have an intellectual disability, be experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, mental health concerns, violent or aggressive behaviours, and other complex problems associated with offending behaviour.
  • A demonstrated ability to work autonomously, including in assessing crisis situations and applying conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as a high level of mediation, negotiation, interpersonal and liaison skills.
  • Capacity to fulfil reporting and administrative requirements associated with the position.
  • Undertake all necessary checks including, Working with Children, Police, NDIS Worker Screening
  • Must hold a valid driver’s licence, an appropriate First Aid Certificate (or be willing to attain one), and be fully vaccinated with a TGA approved vaccine.
