About JobWatch
JobWatch is an employment rights legal centre which provides assistance to workers regarding their rights at work. Some of our functions include:
- A free and confidential telephone information and referral service for workers.
- Representation and assistance for disadvantaged workers through a legal casework practice.
- Campaign and law reform activity with a view to promoting workplace justice and equity for all workers.
- Community legal education, including training, seminars and the production of a variety of publications on employment law and workers' rights.
About the role
You will need to have a strong working knowledge of employment law, including discrimination law with a minimum of 1 year demonstrated experience in the area.
The role requires:
- The conduct of legal casework;
- The development of resources;
- The supervision of the provision of information on the JobWatch Telephone Information Service (TIS);
- The training, mentoring, support and supervision of TIS workers, student interns and volunteers;
- Contribution to the community education activities of JobWatch including delivery of workshops and seminars;
- The development of responses and submissions to government departments, official inquiries and other bodies concerned with exploitative employment practices.
