Entry level $74K + Super (full time position). Salary package includes car allowance, entertainment allowance and salary packaging (under current ATO arrangements for charities).
Employment is subject to the applicant providing Jobsupport with a ‘Working with Children Check’ and ‘National Police Check’ clearance.
Duties & responsibilities:
To achieve such goals for client support as may be agreed with the Manager, and to ensure that transition programs, placements and maintenance support are carried out to the level of client, advocate and employer satisfaction that will facilitate clients to achieve their employment goals and secure retention in open employment.
The duties performed by Disability Support Worker may include:
- Assessment of clients referred to Jobsupport
- Maintain contact with schools and other referring agencies
- Development, implementation and evaluation of transition goal plans with the client and their advocate
- Location of full and part-time positions for clients of Jobsupport
- Conduct a job analysis of potential positions for Jobsupport clients and analysis of changes for existing client positions:
- Negotiating the tasks required
- Negotiating the task sequence required
- Negotiating accuracy, productivity and independence requirements
- Negotiating worksite modifications needed
- Negotiating wages (for employment)
- Health and safety assessment of the workplace
- Develop a Support Agreement based on these negotiations
- Provide one –to-one vocational and non-vocational training of the client to meet their responsibilities within the Support Agreement, including demonstration of the client’s work tasks as required
- Guidance of co-workers and supervisors to meet their responsibilities as outlined in the Support Agreement
- Travel training the client to the workplace
- Liaison with co-trainers to provide consistency in training and support provided to clients
- Liaison with Government Departments and agencies on behalf of clients, e.g. Centrelink and Supported Wage assessment agencies
- Liaison with parents/advocates to implement home-based programs such as grooming and behaviour management
- Identify opportunities in the workplace for the client to advance or for another client through repeat business
- Monitoring of the arrangements within the Support Agreement including work performance of clients and supervision provided by employers. The purpose of this monitoring is to identify issues or potential issues in work placements so that appropriate action can be taken
- Use a problem solving approach to addressing issues that arise. (Under supervision from a Manager and commensurate with skills and experience)
- Maintain legible and timely client records. This documentation is handwritten, and comprises a significant part of the role
- Collect and collate data and other information required for external assessments e.g. Supported Wage Assessments and Ongoing Support Assessments
- Participate in staff meetings, individual supervision meetings and staff training sessions as scheduled by the Manager
- Other related duties as may be allocated by the Board, CEO or Manager of Jobsupport
- These duties are to be completed consistent with the policies and procedures outlined in the Quality and WHS Management Systems
- The duties of a Disability Support Worker are predominantly undertaken in the workplaces of Jobsupport clients and can require combined walking /standing postures for up to 8 hours per day
WHS responsibilities:
Disability Support Workers have the following responsibilities within the WHS Commitment Statement:
- Co-operate with the Work Health and Safety Policy and programs to ensure their own health and safety, and that of others visiting the office
- Participate in consultation processes on issues related to WHS
- Report injuries, near hit incidents, hazardous conditions and practices to their Manager and to make suggestions to improve the health and safety of the workplace environment
- Act immediately on any identified hazard that is rated high risk when assessed on the risk matrix
- Complete relevant documentation if an incident occurs i.e. Incident/ Hazard Reports or Register of Injuries
- Participate in developing and co-operate with an individual return-to-work program if such a program is required due to workplace injury
- Complete activities to meet objectives and targets as allocated in WHS action plans
- Activities related to WHS service provision to clients and employers are undertaken as per the Jobsupport manual and WHS Management Plan
- Consult with employers, clients and advocates on WHS issues and participate in WHS consultation relevant to Jobsupport’s WHSMS
