Keep Australia Beautiful NSW is seeking an experienced educator with a passion for the environment to join the EnviroMentors® sustainability education team.

The EnviroMentors program is a mobile incursion service, that works with local councils to deliver high-quality sustainability education workshops, aiming to empower students to create environmental change through positive actions.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Provide a range of environmental education experiences to school students (predominantly primary) throughout NSW, about issues such as waste disposal and recycling, litter and pollution, and resource conservation.
  • Travel across metropolitan Sydney and regional NSW during the school term. Travel expenses are covered, and all education resources, a laptop, and company car is provided.
  • Complete council reporting, administration and program/lesson development duties outside of face-to-face teaching time.
  • Maintain teaching kits, organisational equipment and vehicle.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Excellent presentation skills and experience engaging with children from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Passion for and knowledge of the sustainability and waste management sector and trends.
  • Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision and as part of an established team.
  • Adaptability to changes in educational schedules and priorities.
  • Willingness to travel to Regional NSW on a regular basis.
  • Valid NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Valid Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Australian Citizenship or valid Visa with permission to work.

Desirable

  • Bachelor of Teaching, Graduate Diploma in Education and/or demonstrated experience working as an Educator with children.
  • Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience working in an environmental or sustainability field.
  • Experience with report writing and/or lesson plan development.
  • Experience with the online creation of visual resources and digital communications.
  • Working knowledge of the NSW ACARA K – 12 syllabuses.
